Our Home | New Slipcovered Sofa

First of all, I want to say a big thank you for so many encouraging emails, comments, and IG notes regarding my last post and my foray into decorating consultations.  I'm a bit blown away at how many of you reached out and expressed an interest in having my help.  I appreciate your confidence in me and look forward to the chance to create some beautiful rooms together! :)

As for our new sofa, it's actually several months old at this point.  I just hadn't gotten around to blogging about it.

It took me entirely too long to make a decision on which to buy.  When spending a few thousand dollars I tend to deliberate more than necessary because making a mistake isn't easy to correct.  We ended up ordering this Lee Industries sofa,  purchased it through English Traditions here in town.  They were having their annual 40% off upholstery sale which lessened the blow a bit.  I choose to upgrade to two seat and back cushions.  Yes, less cushions are an upgrade, go figure.  I think two looks a bit more casual than three which made sense for our family room. I sort of wish I'd chosen a long single seat cushion instead but I feared it would sag in the middle.  However, our double cushions tend to dip in the middle slightly too.  I'm sure with more wear it will all even out though.  At least I hope so.  I

It is slipcovered in a warm, light gray, linen blend fabric (linen, cotton, and a little synthetic stuff  too).  As much as I love 100% linen, it will need to be replaced more quickly (especially on furniture that is used daily) because it doesn't hold up to wear and tear as well as blends.  I have100% linen elsewhere in upholstery and that has been my experience.  I prefer leaving 100% linen on windows and less heavily used furniture.  I like the casual look of slipcovers, but I really wanted a fabric that wasn't going to require much washing.  One that didn't show dirty feet marks.  Not that we have any of those running around. ;)

^^Caster legs and English roll arms - my favorite combination on a sofa. ^^

^^I love the color and texture of the fabric. Just a hint of contrast next to the ivory linen drapes and bone white walls. It is similar to our gray painted trim and built ins.^^

^^Overall, we are super happy with the purchase.  All the contemplating paid off!^^

Here a couple other options we strongly considered..

^^I adore this one! But felt it was too cutesy given all the other slipcovers in this room with pleats and ruffles.  We needed a more tailored slip for our our sofa.^^

^^I also really like RH sofas, especially this one.  My bother and sister in law have one and its held up beautifully to rowdy boys, illness, accidents and every day life in general.  I wasn't crazy about the way their slipcover hid the caster legs though.^^
