Our Weekend

Hi, my friends!
I do hope you had a happy weekend!
Thought I'd share a few pics of how we spent ours.

Last week marked the Spring arrival of the weekly lawn care service,
reigniting Charlie's obsession with lawn mowers and back-pack blowers...

I was able to break out some spring clothes
and bravely expose my ultra pale legs to the world
and I am happy to report that no one fainted at the sight.

It felt so good to be making Sunday dinner, barefoot, in a spring skirt and short sleeves, the windows open and Kenny Chesney's greatest hits blaring on the stereo while Jimmy and Charlie worked in the yard and Andrew played with a friend.  I'm not a huge country music fan, but every now and then I pop in a CD and it instantly takes me back to dating Jimmy in high school and college.  Especially Kenny Chesney, singing about homecoming dances, football games, and first loves.  The high school years were kind to me.  It helped that I was dating the best looking and nicest guy in school (I'm only a little biased) and country music can make the memories come flooding back.  So I sang and chopped veggies and reminisced.

We ate many meals outside
(the one below was grilled lemon & thyme chicken with
roasted veggie orzo and smores for dessert).
We invited friends to join us...

I spied my lilac bushes bursting with buds...

We played ball and rode bikes....

And I gave great gratitude for smiling, rosy cheeked children...

We read good books...

Andrew and I are reading The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
I haven't read it since I was little and I'm actually enjoying it more as an adult.
For those of you that have read them with your children, did you opt for the chronological order or the publication order?  There seem to be a lot of view points both ways.
I'm thinking we'll go the publication order route, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I've been reading heavier stuff and this is a welcome change of pace.
 Total fluff, but fun.

And now it's off to start the week.
I have a long to do list that includes mailing in our tax forms,
which were finished weeks ago but are still awaiting stamps...
playing Easter Bunny and getting something to put in the eggs
(I'm trying to be a little bit more proactive on that front and not wait till the day before) ...
we've got playdates and soccer class ...
and I need to look into summer camps for Andrew.
I've also got a new decorating project in the works and will share plans later in the week.
Let's just say it's LONG over due!
Now I'm off to tuck Andrew in, then paint my toe nails and make a cup of ginger and peach tea.

xo,
Tessa
