I'm so excited to be launching a new website, as well as a new virtual "summer pop-up store" on Thursday, June 17th. For a limited time, I will be offering a collection of beautifully designed items for your home on my website, click here to visit the Pop-Up Shop. Everything - the new branding, the quilts and the platters have been in the works for almost a whole year and to see them all come together is so fulfilling. I have been blogging for 11 years and doing decorating consultations for 7, so it was high time to invest in proper branding and a new website. The gorgeous branding work was done by the talented Holly Hollon and deserves its own post, which I will do soon. My new logo is filled with such meaning and working with Holly has been a dream - I have learned so much from her. You'll notice that I've changed my business name to Tessa Foley Interiors and kept the blog and pop-up store under the Nine and Sixteen Home name. It felt like the right time to make the switch and given the very personal nature of interior design, I wanted my name to be the overarching brand. The change should feel completely seamless to you. My hope is the new website provides easier navigation and more helpful options for you as a reader. I will do a deeper dive into the website soon, but today I wanted to focus on the launch of my virtual summer pop up store!

If you were around last fall, you know that I sold glass hurricanes. This was my first time offering a product through my website and the idea stemmed from wanting to offer special home goods that I love but are challenging to find. There are certain design elements that I use over and over again in my own home and with clients and the ability to make them available to a broader audience is very appealing to me. A way to achieve the look without the need to hire me as a decorator. Over the years, I've spent hours searching for items to no avail and often found myself wishing I could just create them on my own. One of those is block print throw quilts. It is pretty easy to find great options for bedding, but anyone who has ever tried to use a twin size quilt as a throw blanket knows that they are messy. They are awkward to fold and bulky on the sofa. And, when occasionally I did come across a throw sized version, the colors and patterns never went with my interiors, nor were they long enough to cover the whole sofa and I love to use throws to protect our furniture from dirty dog paws. I decided to custom design a few for our home and clients but when they turned out so special I decided to make them available to more people! As a result the Nantucket Summer Quilt Collection was born. The patterns and colors were chosen to evoke the charm and feel found in the summer homes and cottages on Nantucket. It is a feeling I'm always chasing! There are a few things I especially love about these throws.

  • They are completely reversible with a small print on one side and a large print on the other, making them ideal for layering in any room depending on what scale of pattern looks best in that space.

  • They are 100% cotton and light weight, yet still so cozy. They get even softer after washing. The care instructions recommend line drying, but I do put mine in the dryer on low heat and they have done great.

  • The colors work perfectly in my own home and the homes I design. This was intentional so they will work in almost any room, in any home.

  • Their longer size makes them ideal for picnics, perfect over a chair (gives the look of a slipcover), beautiful stacked in a basket, great covering the seat of a sofa, pretty at the foot of a bed, and of course everyone's favorite for movie night snuggles.

  • The quilts are hand blocked in India and named after streets on Nantucket Island.

The quilts are available for pre-order and will ship in early July. The pop-up shop will remain open till August 1st or until items sell out. These are a one time offering and I do not have plans to re-stock them. If there is enough interest I will launch a new series for fall/winter in new patterns and colors.

In addition to the quilts, I'm also thrilled to be offering these beautiful stoneware platters that I designed based on a French antique Moustier pattern. Each of these scalloped platters was hand painted by talented ceramic artists in South America and they are the prettiest shade of green. I can't get over how pretty they turned out! Much like the quilts, I love adding layers to a room or table with different patterns and texture. I fell in love with the Moustier style of stoneware over the years but often the patterns I wanted were priced too high or the antiques were pretty for decor but not practical for use. These platters are the perfect size to use as a charger if you wanted to use multiple ones on a table setting. They are ideal for appetizers or charcuterie when you don't want to fill a whole cheese board, they make a great serving tray for desserts (think mini peach cobblers or strawberry shortcakes) or are even pretty hanging on a wall. They would make a really special housewarming gift too. This pattern, color and size platter will not be restocked. I may do something along the same lines in the future, but not this exact item. Platters will ship late July.

I hope you find something you love that will bring warmth and joy to your home. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look around the new place. I'm hoping the pretty new design will inspire more regular blogging too. Or at least more than 2 blog posts a year.
