There's no turning back...
I've finally chosen (I mean I'm 99.9% sure) a color to paint our dining room cupboard.
This only took me 4 months.
Heaven help me should I ever tackle a major home renovation.
I believe I over think things like this too much...
#1. B/c I'm home during the day and I stare at it all the time.
Not to mention we eat all meals, do homework, etc. in our dining room.
# 2. B/c I'm slightly worried that I'm choosing a "trendy" color.
Do I like it because I see it every where or do I like it because I really like it?
#3. Everyone thinks I'm nuts.
This was not an inexpensive piece of furniture.
It was a handmade antique reproduction
(key word being reproduction, I would not paint the real deal unless it was damaged).
When I was first married I liked early American, traditional, colonial furniture.
I still do, but with less fervor.
I was also long ago over the cherry wood,
especially when set against our dark floors and other "real" antique pieces.
So... while my inspiration pictures grew,
my decision making capabilities didn't.
Until I finally just went ahead and did this
AHHHHHH....
That's real paint up there, ya know.
Our trim throughout most of the downstairs is already grey.
I needed to find a color that contrasted,
but wasn't too dark, didn't look like cement,
wasn't too blue (while pretty, I think I'd tire of it),
and wasn't too green. See? Not easy.
I also thought about painting the inside a different color
Not pink, but high contrast
OR
Pretty and subtle.
I even had a painter show up to give an estimate but he said he couldn't "bring himself" to paint it.
Apparently, he didn't need the extra money.
But that didn't ease my concerns.
Anyway, I've now got a new painter lined up who is ready and willing.
I believe my color is picked out.
And I'll leave you in suspense until it's finished.
Which will be soon, because the stripes are worse than the cherry wood! :)
**I just read Lauren's posts for the last two days.
Not sure that makes me feel better or worse about slapping paint on this thing! **
